Lot of 5 kopeks of silver of the “wire money” type named after Peter I the Great, Tsar and Emperor of Russia (1682-1725). Manual striking characteristic of early modern Russian coinage, on an irregular planchet obtained from a cut and flattened silver wire before striking. Obverse with a rider (a horseman with a spear, a typical motif of kopeks) and partial Cyrillic legends; reverse with inscriptions in several lines. Pieces with wear, dark patina and partially legible legends typical of this type of striking. No individual classification by mint nor variant has been performed; the images are an essential part of the description.
