SAINT FRANCIS AND THE ANGEL - 17TH CENTURY FLEMISH MASTER

Descriptio Oil on panel. Dimensions: 75.5 x 107 cm. A sweeping mountain landscape depicts Saint Francis being supported by angels after an episode of ecstasy or spiritual exhaustion. The composition gives prominence to the natural environment, integrating the figures into a setting with idealized resonances typical of Roman painting around 1600, where landscape and devotion merge into a single narrative. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights.
