[SAINT-MARTIN (Louis-Claude de)]. *On Errors and Truth, or Men Reminded [sic] of the Universal Principle of Science*. Edinburgh, 1775. In-8, red morocco, triple gilt fillet, decorated spine, burgundy title label, interior roulette, gilt edges (contemporary binding). First edition of the earliest work by Saint-Martin, known as the Unknown Philosopher, one of the most famous occultists of his time. Condemned by the Inquisition, his text presents itself as a refutation of materialist doctrines, based on the Gnostic theory of emanation or of spiritual agents emanating from the Word. (Caillet, no. 9768; Dorbon, no. 4305.) Slight foxing. Minor repair on a spine ridge near the title label.
