SALVADOR DALÍ (1904–1989) Sigismund (Sigismund) of La Vida es Sueño 1975 Original etching on Arches paper, France, produced for the suite La Vida es Sueño, inspired by the famous work of Pedro Calderón de la Barca. The composition presents at the top an elaborate architectural and literary structure accompanied by surrealist caligraphic elements, while in the lower zone there is a linear-drawn equestrian figure, characteristic of Dalí's graphic language. Dalí's signature incorporated into the plate. Salvador Dalí (1904–1989) Segismundo (Sigismund), from the La vida es sueño series Design/plate dated 1966 Edition published in 1975 by Editorial Subirana, Barcelona Etching on Arches paper Approx. 38 × 28 cm, sheet size: approx. 38 × 28 cm. Technique: etching on Arches paper. Date: 1975. Series: La Vida es Sueño. Signature: signature on the plate. Reference: Field 73-1; related to the Michler/Löpsinger cataloging of the series. Generally good condition, with the natural characteristics typical of the paper and its age. An interesting example of Dalí's graphic production from the 1970s, particularly appealing for preserving intact the bifolio of the original edition and for its provenance.
