Salvatore Alibrio - Beyond the Surface

In this work by Salvatore Alibrio, the dialogue between materials creates a powerful illusionistic and conceptual effect. The frame and the external structure are skillfully modeled in plaster to simulate the granular and fragile texture of polystyrene. This white surface, with a weathered and broken appearance, opens like a slit in the center. From the rupture emerge orderly modular tesserae in diplast, finely worked and embossed with metallic, glossy shades. The work thus plays on the visual deception of opaque matter and on the revelation of a hidden and precious humanity. Salvatore Alibrio, class of 1991, is an artist who has developed a significant sculptural research, participating in exhibitions and symposiums, including those promoted by the Academy of Fine Arts of Catania. His practice explores artistic language through an iconographic vocabulary that unites tradition and experimentation. He uses materials such as stone, marble and clay, revealing a deep connection with his cultural roots. His work addresses contemporary social issues, often reflecting on current tragedies. Alibrio reinterprets the recognizable through a logic of fragmentation, stimulating critical reflection. His mastery of materials and rigorous approach contribute to developing an autonomous artistic language, capable of expressing tension and strength.
