Sanctuary lamp - Copper, Bronze - Great Church sanctuary lamp

Large antique ecclesiastical sanctuary lamp (also known as a sanctuary lamp), European origin and dating from the 19th or early 20th century. It is made of solid, hand-worked brass or gilded bronze and is richly decorated in the Neo-Baroque or Neo-Gothic style. Characteristic of this type of sacred lighting are the structural construction and religious ornaments: The three handles or chain attachments on the sides are shaped as little angels (cherubim). The bowl and cup are adorned all around with reliefs of palmettes, acanthus leaves, and shell motifs. In the middle hangs a holder, presumably for a glass holder for oil or illumination. Dimensions: the bowl is 40 cm wide and the height is around 110 cm high.
