Sandbar Lagoon - Petra Meikle de Vlas

Sandbar Lagoon by Petra Meikle de Vlas Painting 40.2 x 59.0 :: Sandbar Lagoon by Petra Meikle Sandbar Lagoon is a statement ocean artwork inspired by the quiet sheltered stretches of the Great Barrier Reef — the places where pale sandbars rise just beneath the surface and the water moves slowly without wind or rush. At the shoreline blue and gold tones meet: soft shimmering reef textures traced with warm highlights like sunlight flickering across shallow water. The composition moves gradually from gentle pale lagoon shallows into deep cobalt and indigo reef water. The shallows hold soft whispering wave lines almost still while the deeper section carries weight and depth — rich colour quiet movement and a sense of vast underwater terrain extending beyond sight. There is no chaos here just tide breathing in and out. As a feature wall art piece it holds presence — especially in taller or portrait-oriented spaces. The vertical format draws the eye downward like a slow descent from sandbar to deepwater reef. From a distance the work reads as calm and expansive; up close fine reef-like patterns tidal cracks and mineral-gold accents reveal themselves in layers. The palette is vibrant without being loud — lagoon mint turquoise deep ocean blue warm neutral sand and subtle gold shimmer — making it deeply harmonious with coastal modern and earth-toned interiors. It brings a feeling of quiet clarity and open space into a room like stepping into water on a still day. :: Type: Painting Medium: Watercolor Style: Impressionist Subject: Seascape Width: 40.2 Height: 59.0 Depth: 1.4 Weight: 33 lbs Framed: no :: All art on Zatista is original and signed.
