Saype, whose real name is Guillaume Legros, is a Franco-Swiss contemporary artist and a pioneer of land art, renowned for his monumental frescoes painted directly onto natural landscapes such as grass or snow. Using pigments that are 100% biodegradable based on chalk and charcoal, he creates ephemeral works visible from the sky that fade away naturally without leaving any trace on the environment. Through global projects such as "Beyond Walls", his poetic and engaged art conveys universal messages of peace, human solidarity, and respect for nature. Hahnemühle Agave 290g paper Edition of only 50 copies, numbered and signed by the artist, sold-out edition Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity 47x67cm 2024 Eco-friendly painting on grass 2,500 m2 Community Common Park - Mississauga (CAN) 2024 43°35'26.27" N 79°38'87.87" E September 30, 2024 - 07:42 The fresco depicts a child playing with Kapla blocks, small wooden planks that have marked childhood for many adults around the world, including Saype himself. Through his work, Saype seeks to emphasize the importance of coming together for a common goal, recognizing the fused history of Mississauga and celebrating its unique cultural makeup. In this work, the block house symbolizes our planet: a fragile and expanding world, in constant evolution. Each piece of wood, carefully placed by the child, represents the importance of every individual and every action in building a common future for Canada. The work starkly contrasts with the modern skyscrapers surrounding the park, highlighting the simplicity of childhood and the humanity at work amidst Mississauga’s growing urban development. For Saype, this creation embodies the cooperation and solidarity essential to building a prosperous community for all. "Working together is the key to building a sustainable future that benefits everyone," says the artist. Through this piece, he invites us to reflect on how even the smallest actions can shape a better world.
