The 961 was, essentially, the competition version of the Porsche 959, developed for Group B. The no. 180 was entered by Porsche AG at Le Mans 1986 with René Metge and Claude Ballot-Léna. Engine: 6-cylinder boxer, 2.8-liter twin-turbo Power: approximately 680 hp Drivetrain: all-wheel drive Result: 7th overall and 1st in its GTX class It was the first four-wheel drive car to compete at Le Mans. It is, therefore, a rather special car historically: it is not simply "another Le Mans Porsche", but the direct predecessor of the concept that would later culminate in the Porsche 959 racing cars.
