It was meant to subtly conceal German origin ("Made in Germany") in the post-war period to facilitate international sale. 2. Ceramic vase, hand-painted Schramberger Majolika-Fabrik (SMF), with original label, anniversary vase Collectors piece Year of manufacture: 1953 Base features: The four-digit, incised number 5826 is the form number from the Schramberg factory catalog. The dark dots/lines beside it are the personal painter’s mark of the person who applied the decoration by hand. The base is typographically unglazed to prevent the vase from sticking to the kiln shelves during firing. The factory celebrated its 125th anniversary in 1953 (founded 1828). On this occasion, in 1953 and the following years of the 1950s, many pieces were supplied with exactly this silver anniversary sticker (often round or shield-shaped, with an embossed “125” or a stylized “25” for the anniversary year). An additional factory stamp was omitted because the vase already bore the anniversary label.
