Scipione Cignaroli (Milan 1690 - Turin 1753) Arcadian landscape, with Monte dei Cappuccini of Turin and a bend of the Po Oil on canvas 182 x 118 cm The work is accompanied by a study by Dr. Arabella Cifani, available via email Scipione, according to Dal Pozzo, 1718, and Orlandi, 1719, received his training in Rome under Cavalier Tempesta. Also for the Savoy clients, in 1739 he worked at Stupinigi, producing thirty landscape paintings, coming into contact with Carlo Antonio Tavella, a capable landscape painter and collaborator of Alessandro Magnasco. Finally, it is essential to recall how Scipione, a sensitive and skilled artist, managed to make the Venetian school his own, and in particular Marco Ricci.
