Sculptural Déco Ring with Diamonds and Pearls in White Gold, c. 1940

The radical modernity of the Machine Age paired with the sophistication and exquisite craftsmanship of antique jewellery – that is how this ring could be described. And yet you have to see it from all sides to really get an idea of this remarkably beautiful piece. The ring is rich in details from all sides: The towering galleries are adorned with floral hand engravings on the sides, which add depth and texture to the polished white gold surfaces. At the top, the ring presents a monochrome triumvirate of luxurious materials: shiny white gold holds an old-cut diamond. This is flanked by two shimmering pearls in creamy white and silvery white. A further strip of diamonds is set on all four sides of the horizontal showpiece, the arrangement of which gives the ring an avant-garde look in a simple yet incredibly effective way. The bold, characteristic design and its workmanship allow us to date the ring to around 1940. Its hallmarks also confirm this period of origin: among others, it bears the Czechoslovakian lion hallmark, which was introduced in 1929 and used until 1949.
