Fine sculpture depicting a winged putto reclining on a raised-relief decorated cushion with capitonné motifs and tassels at the corners. The work is made of glazed cream-white ceramic/majolica, with a suggestive and extended craquelure effect (crazing of the glaze) evenly distributed over the entire surface, typical of period workmanship. The figure shows an excellent rendering of details: the curls of the hair, the definition of the feathers on the wings, and the softness of the anatomical forms recall classic Neoclassical models revived between the early 20th century and the Art Deco period. On the lower part there are the typical vintage vent holes for firing and a ribbed reinforcement structure. Although there are no visible signatures, the workmanship, the quality of the glaze, and the base confirm the era dating (early 20th century). Subject: Winged putto / cherub on a cushion Material: Majolica / glazed terracotta (Crackle Glaze) Color: Cream white / Ivory Era: circa 1920–1930 Provenance: (France) Dimensions: Length 28 cm | Height about 18.5 cm | Depth: 12.3 cm Condition: The item presents in overall excellent condition, structurally intact and free of restorations. The glaze retains its original luster with homogeneous craquelé. Only two micro-chips are noted (minuscule chips) on the front left bottom part of the cushion’s front foot (visible frontally at the lower left), and on the face (left side) — elements that do not compromise stability or aesthetic rendering. Please refer to the attached images for a detailed view of the conservation status.
