Sculpture, Brons mythologische beeld van Icarus - 44 cm - Bronze, Marble - 2025

Sculpture of Icarus stands on a square marble base. Icarus was the son of the master inventor Daedalus, known from Greek mythology. He tried to escape from Crete by flying on wings of feathers, which his father had made. Because Icarus flew too close to the sun, the wax on his wings melted, after which he fell into the sea and drowned. This bronze statue is made with the lost-wax method, an ancient technique. First, a layer of wax is applied in the mold, then the mold is filled with clay, after which molten bronze is poured into the mold. The applied wax layer flows away, the space that remains is filled with bronze. The statue is cooled, then opened and finished, smoothed and polished. This statue is a valuable object and with 75% bronze, which means it guarantees a very long lifespan. Dimensions: height 44 cm, width 46 cm, depth 9 cm. Numbered: A2540 Signed with the name Froet Lander. Equipped with the stamp of the bronze foundry.
