PAIR OF ANGELIC CHERUBS IN CARVED, POLYCHROMED AND GILT WOOD Paintings. Italian Craftsmanship. Delightful quality sculptures with extraordinary expressiveness. A rare pair of angelic figures in fully carved and round-figure wood, characterized by a modeling of great artistic sensitivity and a stage presence of absolute prominence. The two figures feature infant faces of intense expressiveness, carved with a softness almost painterly: full cheeks, delicately outlined eyelids, slightly parted mouths, and the particular rendering of the eyes give the putti a unique beauty. The natural patina of time is present and one can observe the patina of time. The figures, conceived with a strong dynamic and theatrical stance, show refined knowledge of European decorative sculpture and possess that rare ability to unite spirituality, formal sensuality, and decorative power. They could have been part of a Neapolitan nativity scene in the past. Perhaps. The exceptional expressiveness of the faces, together with the preservation of the ancient polychrome surfaces, makes these sculptures particularly interesting also on the international market for decorative art and antique sculpture. The many photographs are absolutely integral parts of this description to help the buyer see clearly every single detail -
