Sculpture, Madonna met Kind - 51 cm - Limewood

Beautiful, monumental wooden statue of the Madonna and Child, hand-carved from a single solid block of limewood. The sculpture is crafted in the traditional and flowing style that characterizes high-quality religious woodcarving from the Alpine region (such as Val Gardena). Special details: • Craftsmanship: The deep, flowing folds of the garment and the tender facial expressions testify to high-quality handwork. The individual gouge and chisel marks are still beautifully visible in the wood. • Size: With an impressive height of 51 cm, this is a rarer and highly decorative size. • Underside: The bottom shows the authentic, dense grain structure and growth rings of the limewood, including the characteristic round hole that was used at the time to fix the wood to the workbench during carving. The lot is in vintage condition and will be packed extremely carefully and professionally for shipping and provided with a Track & Trace code. Photos clearly show the condition of the item.
