An authentic fragment of ancient Sardinian folklore: the unmistakable "Visera" of the Mamuthone, a masterpiece of craftsmanship for collectors and lovers of popular traditions. Description: Welcome to this extraordinary auction. We present to you a magnificent set consisting of three traditional Sardinian masks, depicting the famous "Mamuthones", the ancestral and mysterious figures that animate the historic Carnival of Mamoiada, in Barbagia. To help you place these works in your spaces, here are the exact dimensions of the set: Large masks: Height 29.5 cm | Width (head) 13 cm Small mask (with strap): Height 7.5 cm | Width (head) 3 cm The two larger masks perfectly capture the dramatic and impassive essence typical of the Mamuthone: the strong features, angular geometries, prominent lips and the suffering, fixed expression. To complete this exceptional lot there is a third miniature mask, a delightful collectible detail provided with an original leather strap. Each mask is a unique piece, strictly hand-carved in solid wood according to the dictates of Barbagian craftsmanship. The wood has been treated with great respect: we have nourished and carefully polished it with natural oils and waxes, a process that has highlighted the traditional dark patina and the wonderful natural grain, emphasizing every single gouge mark left by the carver. As with every item we offer through our showrooms, we guarantee careful selection and meticulous care. The masks are in excellent condition, preserving the charm and time-worn flavor that certify their authenticity. We invite you to analyze the attached photographs, which are an integral part of the description and illustrate the sculptural quality of the work even on the back, where the practical loops for wall mounting or for wearing are visible. Packaging will be prepared with meticulous attention to detail to preserve the integrity of the wood. Fast and trackable shipping throughout Europe, dispatched directly from Italy. An unmissable opportunity to bring home the beating heart of Sardinia. Happy bidding!
