From a private noble collection with legitimate provenance Fascinating antique oil painting on canvas depicting the "Madonna del Velo" (Madonna of the Veil). The scene, imbued with the intimate, domestic sweetness typical of Baroque classicism, shows the Virgin Mary in the act of lifting a transparent veil to watch over the sleep of the Child Jesus, laid on a rich cushion with tassels. The work is inspired by the famous iconographic inventions introduced in the Seicento (seventeenth century) by masters of the Emiliana and Roman schools, which enjoyed enormous success for private devotion of the era. The painting is characterized by a warm palette in pink and blue tones, with a soft chiaroscuro that envelops the figures.
