Fascinating and rare Lombard noble portrait, depicting a member of the famous Visconti di Modrone counts, dated in the upper right corner 1782. The gentleman is depicted in a half-length portrait, strictly dressed in the era's formal evening wear (crimson/red jacket with embroidered details and worked buttons, matching waistcoat, and a white lace cravat), while he holds a small book or notebook with elegant grace, symbolizing culture and erudition. Historical and collecting details: Dating: the painting year '1782' is clearly visible in the upper right corner. The work underwent a professional conservation restoration in 1979 with a re-lining intervention and replacement of the stretcher with tension wedges, ensuring structural stability for decades to come.
