Sindo-Maeotic Iron Sword – Kuban/North Caucasus region, 4th century BC. Object: ancient iron sword Type: Sindo-Maeotic sword type Culture: Maeotians / Sindo-Maeotian cultural area Region: Kuban / North Caucasus / northern Black Sea coast Dating: 4th century BC, probably ca. 400–325 BC Material: iron Overall length: 697 mm Maximum width: approx. 61 mm Grip without pommel: approx. 95 mm Special feature: distinctive transverse bar-shaped grip knob, no prominent parry guard A rare and impressive example of an Iron Age weapon from the northern Black Sea region, whose characteristic grip and knob form suggests assignment to the Sindo-Maeotic cultural sphere. Due to its length of just under 70 cm, it is not a small dagger or akinetos, but a fully-fledged iron sword. Acquired in 1996 from a private collection in Belgium, which had been built up in the 1960s. I SELL ONLY WITHIN THE EU!!!
