A treat for collectors. Beautiful, very large shell, rarely available for sale. Strombus Goliath - Titanostrombus goliath, previously known as Lobatus goliath, the common name for the Goliath conch, is a species of very large edible sea snail, a marine snail from the family Strombidae. The Goliath shell has a very large, heavy, and solid shell, with a very conspicuous, broad-expanded, and thickened outer lip. The stroboidal notch is rather inconspicuous in adults, but it can be identified as a secondary anterior notch on the right side of the siphonal canal in a non-sinistral shell, assuming it is viewed ventrally with the anterior end directed downward. In contrast to the similarly sized Queen conch, Aliger gigas, the opening of the Goliath shell is brown, not pink. T. goliath also has a shorter spire and darker spines compared to the Queen conch, and the outer varix often protrudes well beyond the length of the spire in adult shells. Dimensions: 120/200/270 mm. I highly recommend it to collectors and interior decorators.
