Sea Urchin - Fossil matrix - Asterocidaris Bistriata - 26.5 cm - 12 cm

Exceptional Asterocidaris bistriata Sea Urchin with Radiating Spines – Middle Jurassic A beautifully preserved fossil specimen of Asterocidaris bistriata, an ancient sea urchin dating to the Middle Jurassic (Upper Bajocian). This remarkable piece immediately captures attention thanks to the elegant radial arrangement of its long spines, naturally forming a harmonious, almost floral geometry that gives the fossil a striking sculptural presence. Carefully prepared while remaining embedded in its original matrix, the specimen reveals fine anatomical detail across both the central test and the surrounding spines. The soft, natural tones of the fossil contrast gracefully with the darker stone, enhancing its visual depth and making it particularly appealing as a display piece. With a maximum sea urchin diameter of 9.5 cm, the fossil offers an ideal balance between scientific significance and refined aesthetic value. Its organic symmetry and three-dimensional structure allow it to function not only as a collector’s item but also as a distinctive natural artwork suitable for modern interiors, cabinets of curiosity, or natural history displays. A plastic display base is included, ensuring stable presentation while highlighting the specimen’s elegant form. An authentic and highly decorative Jurassic fossil — perfect for collectors seeking a piece that combines natural history with timeless visual appeal.
