o reserve price! Carved rectangular greyish Chinese Seal with creature and script -China- Qing period On offer is a fine and old greyish low-translucent Chinese artist stone Seal. This stone seal has a nice carved mythical creature on top of the seal. The pedestal has a slightly tapered shape as more often seen in antique seals. On the front are engraved Chinese characters. The seal has a nice soft glossy appearance and nice patina from use and age. The face of the seal shows 2 characters in the Archaic style. UV check shows that the stone is natural, so not artificially colored. A fine old example, very hard to find! Provenance: Recently, we had the privilege of acquiring a richly varied collection of old/antique Chinese stone seals. These remarkable seals have been brought together over many years by a private collector. They consist of good quality authentic Chinese seals made from various colored mineral stones, including possibly shoushan stone (larderite). The dating varies; but they are all from the Qing period into the 20th century. During the coming period, we will offer items of this collection at a time.
