SET OF TWO HUNTING DAGGERS

Comprising: - Hunting dagger, 18th century. Chiselled iron and bone mountings. Urn-shaped pommel and shield-shaped guard. Guard featuring a rectangular cartouche and two small straight quillons. Carved bone tang with ferrule. Straight blade, chiselled at the heel with the initials ‘AR’ beneath a closed crown. Leather scabbard with two trimmings (additional tip). Date: late 18th century. Total length: 60 cm – Ebony and steel mountings . Turned ebony hilt. Body knot in the shape of a wild boar, from which emerge two small quillons in the shape of dog’s heads. Straight blade with two fuller grooves. Leather scabbard with two brass fittings. Date: mid-19th century. Total length: 60 cm Expert: Alban Degrave.
