The Seymchan meteorite was discovered in 1967 in the Magadan region, in the bed of the Hekandue River, near the settlement of Seymchan. A stony-iron originating from the core–mantle boundary of an asteroid, where molten metal mixed with olivine crystals. Some sections are rich in olivine, others predominantly metallic, and some even devoid of olivine — this type of structure is called a "transitional pallasite".
