This pocket-sized edition is a classic example of late-Victorian bookmaking, highly prized for both its text layout and decorative appeal. Binding & Condition: Exterior: All 13 volumes are uniformly bound in publisher's full, tooled, brown leather. Features beautiful raised spinal bands with bright gilt titles and elaborate blind-embossed framing to the front and rear covers. The bindings are structurally firm and intact. Offered in Fine condition. The gilt edges (AEG) maintain a brilliant, reflective, mirror-like shine when stacked or shelved, giving this complete Victorian pocket-edition stunning shelf presence. Marker ribbons still present Interior: Exceptionally clean and crisp, the interior condition is Fine. The text blocks are bright and free from the heavy foxing typical of this era.
