A premium A1-format technical poster dedicated to the Volkswagen Golf GTI (1976) — the legendary first-generation hot hatch that combined lightweight construction, practical everyday usability, and engaging performance in a compact and instantly recognizable package. This artwork showcases a highly detailed multi-view technical illustration, including front, rear, side, and top perspectives, complete with precise dimensions and key specifications. A refined tribute to one of the most influential performance cars of the 1970s. Highlights The Original Golf GTI Launched in 1976, the Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk1 transformed the compact family hatchback into a genuinely exciting performance car. Its combination of low weight, responsive handling, practicality, and accessible performance helped establish the modern hot-hatch formula. 1.6-Litre Fuel-Injected Engine The original GTI was powered by a 1.6-litre naturally aspirated inline-four engine with Bosch K-Jetronic mechanical fuel injection, producing approximately 110 PS (108 hp / 81 kW). Lightweight Performance With a kerb weight of around 810 kg, the early Golf GTI offered an excellent power-to-weight ratio. It could accelerate from 0–100 km/h in approximately 9 seconds and reach a top speed of around 182 km/h (113 mph). Driver-Focused Engineering Front-wheel drive, compact dimensions, a lightweight body, firmer suspension, and responsive steering gave the GTI agile and entertaining handling while preserving the practicality and efficiency of the standard Golf. Iconic Giugiaro Design The original Golf was styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro, with the GTI adding distinctive performance details including its red grille surround, black wheel-arch extensions, front spoiler, characteristic wheels, and subtle GTI badging. Hot-Hatch Legacy The Mk1 Golf GTI became one of the defining performance cars of its generation and helped popularize an entirely new category of affordable performance hatchbacks. Its influence can still be seen throughout the modern automotive industry. Technical Precision Accurate dimensional layout inspired by original engineering schematics, emphasizing the car’s compact proportions, front-engine and front-wheel-drive architecture, lightweight construction, and purposeful 1970s design. Condition New — professionally printed on high-quality paper.
