shrunken head Taxidermy replica mount - Human shrunken...

Fascinating vintage replica of a "Tsantsa" (shrunken head), made for decorative and collectible purposes in the second half of the 20th century in South America (Ecuador/Peru). This object accurately reproduces the famous ritual artifacts of the Shuar (Jívaro) culture. The manufacture is entirely handmade: animal skin was shaped and sewn, taking advantage of the natural fur arrangement on the back to simulate the hairstyle and eyebrows. The lips are tightened by three knots of rough cord, faithful to the protective details of Amazonian tradition. The piece retains its shape well thanks to the internal filling of period cotton wool visible at the base of the neck. A visually striking item, perfect for lovers of exotic curiosities, Wunderkammer (cabinet of curiosities), or collections of ethnic, historical, and tribal objects. Period: Circa 1960-1980 Dimensions: 11 x 11.5 cm Weight: 78 grams Good vintage condition. Shows natural signs of wear and artisanal processing of the rough leather (please view the gallery carefully for close-up details of the stitching and the base). It will be shipped with proper packaging and a postal tracking number.
