[Signed] [First Edition] First Wounds- A Story in Five...

POETRY JOHN VARNEY FIRST WOUNDS STORY IN FIVE CHAPTERS 1926 SIGNED LIMITED HARDCOVER. I hope it shows in my offerings, that my collection includes many obscure items which have always fascinated me. While I tend to be non-fiction focused, I also like poetry. The time has come to see to whom else these choices, made over 50 years of book collecting, might appeal. Please find a signed, limited edition (500 copies only) titled: First Wounds- A Story in Five Chapters of Verse by John Varney. Varney was a pro-proletarian, pro-communist Professor of English at New York University. He visited the Soviet Union after the Russian Revolution and spent a good deal of time in Europe in the 1920 s. This book of poems seems to be one of the outcomes of that time abroad. This medium-sized hard cover book (7 ¼ x 10 ¼ inches, 126 pages plus the limitation page) was published by Francesco Bianco of New York dated April 1926 and an apparent First Printing of the First Edition. It is flat signed by the Author on the half-title page. The book is bound in chocolate brown cloth with once-gilt titles on the spine, now almost impossible to read. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The boards are generally clean but are very lightly bumped at the corners and spine tips. The author s signature is the only mark I found in the book and the interior pages are clean and bright throughout, without toning or foxing. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
