A late 19th-century Wedgwood glazed earthenware squat pitcher or milk jug. The vessel is crafted in pale yellow caneware with a wide, rounded form and a small pouring spout. The exterior is decorated with a hand-painted horizontal band depicting a continuous vine of leaves and berry clusters in a dark manganese brown pigment. This foliate decoration extends onto the large C-shaped handle. The interior rim is finished with a coordinated hand-painted border of dots and dashes. The underside of the base features an impressed Wedgwood mark. It also bears a hand-painted artist monogram. The base retains a circular silver Rubin Collection sticker and a paper collector label identifying the piece as a Wedgwood Caneware squat pitcher, artist signed, circa 1880.
