SILVER Pr. of English Silver Four-light Candelabra

SILVER Pr. of English Silver Four-light Candelabra

Pair of weighted English silver four-light candelabra, each base bearing London hallmarks for Thomas Daniell, dated 1788, and engraved with a stag’s head erased dexter. The labra and arms exhibit evidence of extensive repairs and alterations. One base appears to have been salvaged and subsequently soldered to the labra and arms. The base of the other candelabrum bears the maker’s mark of John Wakelin & William Taylor and a lion passant, but no city mark or date letter. The drip pans, capitals and removable bobeches bear London marks for R. & S. Garrard & Co. (James Garrard), with the bobeches dated 1884. Total approx. weight of the candelabras is 45.56 troy oz (gross) excluding weighted bases. From a Harrison, NY estate. Dimensions: candelabra measures approx. 16.875" h. Condition: Good, with minor dents/dings and light surface scratches. Please examine the provided photos to thoroughly evaluate each piece. The candelabra appear to incorporate components from different periods and exhibit numerous repairs throughout, suggesting they may have been assembled from earlier silver elements over the course of their history.
