SKE - The Birmingham Code

"The Birmingham Code" – Ultra Limited Edition (10 copies) - New collection Edition number: 02/10 Artist: SKE Artist Instagram: ske_shakeyourart Publisher: Atelier Montmartre Paris Mixed media: digital painting (Procreate AI Photoshop) Premium art paper – ISO A2 format – Signed, numbered – Certificate included There are men who enter a room. Others give the impression that it already belongs to them. With The Birmingham Code, SKE dives into the dark imagination of interwar industrial England: blackened bricks, factory smoke, vintage cars and a flawless silhouette under a flat cap. Everything in the scene evokes a world governed by alliances, loyalty, silence, and that cold elegance that often precedes irreversible decisions. Contrast is at the heart of the composition. The three-piece suit, the watch chain, and the nearly aristocratic posture oppose the roughness of the walls, the machinery, and the industrial landscape. The deliberately patinated palette – coal black, gray, paper beige, and brick orange – gives the work the appearance of an image found in an archive, then reinterpreted with a contemporary graphic energy. SKE transforms this aesthetic of British gangster from the universe of "Peaky Blinders" into a true collectible image. The texture recalls old printing, engraving, and posters, while the graphic treatment maintains a very current tension between popular culture, cinema, street art, and visual memory. The Birmingham Code is not an action scene. It is the exact moment before. The moment where silence, gaze, and posture are enough to tell the story of power. A piece for collectors drawn to dark worlds, vintage automobiles, and images that command presence without needing to raise the voice. Features: • Limited edition of 10 copies • Printed on premium art paper • ISO A2 format (59.4x42 cm), easy to frame • Each copy signed and numbered by SKE • Delivered with certificate of authenticity • Shipped protected, reinforced packaging A rare edition that will undoubtedly become a flagship element of your collection. - FRAMING TIPS Your artwork is shipped rolled and protected in a tube. Upon receipt, carefully unroll it and lay it flat for 48 to 72 hours so it naturally regains its shape before framing. ISO formats (A3, A2, A1…) are very easy to frame with standard frames available in do-it-yourself or décor stores. Personally, I use Leroy Merlin aluminum frames: simple, elegant, and economical; they showcase the works perfectly. - ARTIST BIO: SKE is a self-taught, versatile French artist who grew up in the 80s/90s culture and whose work reflects that era. He constantly explores new techniques: acrylic painting, collage, stenciling, graffiti, urban installations, and digital art. His dynamic, expressive compositions, often with double meanings, combine the raw energy of street art with the visual impact of pop art. After an exceptional year in 2025, SKE's value has risen noticeably. Winner of the first prize at the Urban Master contest (2023), then named Revelation of the Year at the Color Jam Challenge (2025). SKE was selected as "Artist of the Month" in October and also featured in an American art magazine, confirming international recognition. His works have already been exhibited in major venues in Europe, the United States, and Asia, strengthening his place on the contemporary art scene. At the same time, SKE is also strong in the digital artworks market, a major trend in recent years, enhancing the appeal of his creations to collectors. Icons of popular culture, bold graphics, and texture play characterize a style now essential. SKE is undeniably an artist to follow, to start or enrich a collection with rising value. Awarded & Renowned Artist – Pop Art & Contemporary Street Art A UNIVERSE BETWEEN HERITAGE AND MODERNITY SKE’s work fits into a prestigious lineage. His line carries the visual efficiency of Keith Haring and Andy Warhol, while incorporating subversion inspired by Banksy or the pioneer Blek le Rat. His works bridge eras: they revisit classics, not hesitating to parody Vinci’s Mona Lisa, Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring, Hokusai’s The Great Wave, or Picasso’s deconstructed forms to confront them with a modern urban aesthetic close to Mr. Brainwash or Kaws. POP CULTURE & NOSTALGIA Drawing from collective imagination, SKE manipulates icons of our childhood. He stages Disney’s universe with figures like Mickey or Pinocchio, and the symbolic greed of Scrooge McDuck. The influence of gaming, comics, and manga is omnipresent: from Nintendo’s world and the legendary Game Boy to Pokemon creatures (Pikachu, Charizard, Ash), passing through Marvel superheroes. SKE crystallizes these memories in the manner of a Daniel Arsham or Takashi Murakami. LUXURY, HYPE & CONSUMER SOCIETY In a style sometimes reminiscent of Alec Monopoly, the artist plays with codes of success and materialism. The Dollar symbol sits beside logos of luxury and fashion giants. His canvases capture the aesthetics of “Hype”: the sneaker universe (Nike Air Jordan, Adidas, Off-White) and high fashion (Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Louboutin). He also integrates automotive adrenaline (Ferrari, Porsche, Bugatti, AMG) and precision watchmaking (Rolex, Tag Heuer), not to forget mass consumer icons like Coca-Cola. It is vibrant art, with textures that evoke the glossy finish of Jeff Koons or the facets of Richard Orlinski. This work is ideal for enriching a collection or bringing a dynamic touch to your home. - Instagram artist SKE: ske_shakeyourart
