And then there are those that instantly transport us to a time, a story, a part of ourselves. In A Ticket to the Stars, SKE lets two powerful fragments of the French collective memory dialogue: the universe of The Little Prince and the iconography of the 50-franc note dedicated to Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. The engraved portrait of the writer sits beside the child in the yellow scarf, his rose, his asteroid, the stars, the airplane, the map and the postal codes. Everything seems to travel between sky, childhood and memories. The composition, however, does not chase easy nostalgia. SKE deconstructs these familiar images and reassembles them in a contemporary writing nourished by collage effects, pictorial textures, superpositions and graphic accidents. Blue dominates, pierced by the yellows of the scarf, of the stars and golden touches. Upon receipt, carefully remove it then lay it flat for 48 to 72 hours so it naturally regains its shape before framing. ISO formats (A3, A2, A1…) are very easy to frame with standard frames available at DIY or home décor shops. Personally, I use Leroy Merlin aluminum frames: simple, elegant and economical, they showcase the works perfectly. - ARTIST BIO: SKE is a self-taught French artist with wide-ranging interests who grew up in the 80s/90s culture, inspiring a large portion of his body of work.
