Sony - Playstation 1 (PS1) - PS1 SCPH-5552 met...

Description; The PlayStation 1 (officially abbreviated as PS1 or PSX) is one of the most iconic gaming consoles in history, released by Sony Computer Entertainment in Japan in 1994 and in Europe and North America in 1995. It was the first console in the hugely popular PlayStation series and the very first gaming console worldwide to sell more than 100 million units. Key Features & Revolution The shift to 3D graphics: Whereas earlier consoles (such as the Super Nintendo and Sega Mega Drive) mainly ran on 2D sprites, the PS1 introduced smooth 3D polygons. CD-ROM as storage medium: Instead of expensive game cartridges, Sony used CDs. This gave developers massively more storage space (about 650 MB) for video clips, voiced dialogue, and CD-quality music. The iconic controller: The original controller introduced the four shoulder buttons (L1, L2, R1, R2). In 1997 Sony released the DualShock controller, which added two analog sticks and vibration features—the blueprint for modern controllers. Legendary Games The PS1 is known for defining countless franchises that still exist today. Some of the biggest classics are: Crash Bandicoot & Spyro the Dragon: The unofficial mascots and platform heroes of the console. Final Fantasy VII: The RPG that brought the series worldwide with cinematic cutscenes. Metal Gear Solid: A cornerstone of the modern stealth genre and cinematic storytelling in games. Resident Evil & Silent Hill: The games that put the survival horror genre on the map. Gran Turismo: The best-selling PS1 game ever, offering unprecedented realistic racing at the time. Tomb Raider: Introduced the world to the iconic adventurer Lara Croft. Condition: Very good, cosmetic condition: Vintage (See all photos).
