SPAIN. Cádiz. 2 Reales. 1811. Fernando VII (1808-1833) - Value: 2 Reales. - Reign: Fernando VII (1808-1833). - Year: 1811. - Inscriptions: Obverse: FERDIN · VII · DEI · GRATIA · 1811. Reverse: HISPANIARUM REX · 2 R · CI. - Grade: AU58 (GBCA). Silver 2-Reales coin minted at the Cádiz mint during the War of Spanish Independence, in the name of Fernando VII. The obverse shows the laureate bust of the monarch looking to the right, executed in a sober and elegant Neoclassical style, surrounded by the royal legend and the date. The reverse presents the crowned shield of the arms of Spain with the quarters of Castile, León and Granada, accompanied by the denomination of 2 Reales and the mint mark and assayer's mark. The reliefs retain much of the original detail, especially in the portrait, the crown and the shield, with minimal wear appropriate to a very limited circulation. The fields show an attractive natural silver tone with traces of original luster and very light surface marks typical of handling from the era. A very attractive specimen with excellent visual presence, representative of the issues minted in Cádiz during the conflict against the Napoleonic occupation, one of the most significant periods in Spanish monetary history. Disclaimer: For orders shipped outside the European Union, I want to leave absolutely clear that I do ship from Spain, which means that if the package is sent to any country outside the European Union, and/or inside EU that has special tax agreement (example: Canary Islands), it might be stopped in your local customs and they might ask you to pay taxes.
