All auctions / Miscellaneous / Spanish school (XVII) - Alegoría al olfato

Beautiful portrait of a 17th-century lady, dressed in a rich red velvet gown, with gold embroidery. A hat to match the dress, topped with a large plume and a collar embroidered in the style of the period. The young lady carries a basket of flowers on her lap and in her hand a bouquet. This painting represents, as indicated at the top (Odoratus 3), an allegory of smell. Surely, this painting was part of a set of the 5 senses. Executed in oil on panel. In very good condition. The frame is not from the period of the painting, but it is of high quality, made in gilded and polychromed wood. Measurements with frame: 64 x 53 cm Measurements without frame: 36 x 27 cm
