All auctions / Miscellaneous / Spanish School (XX) - Madrid: An Auturmn Morning at Plaza de Oriente
- Oil on canvas. Original canvas. Hand-signed and dated. - There is an impassive gravity to the granite statues that flank the Plaza de Oriente, carved under the austere light of the Bourbon project to watch over the Royal Palace as kings and queens snatched from time. Originally carved by order of Ferdinand VI to crown the upper balustrade of the palace —and later lowered by the practical judgment of Charles III and the romantic nightmares of Queen Isabel Farnesio— these anthropomorphic figures know not the warmth of Italian marble nor the opulent court polish; they are of Abulense and Madrid stone, porous, gray leaden and hard-veined, resisting the caress of the chisel. Scattered among the boxwood parterres and the air that descends from the Sierra de la Guadarrama, the effigies of the Visigothic and medieval monarchs seem inhabited by a mineral melancholy: skin eroded by lichen, the folds of their petrified mantles in an almost hieratic gesture, and their blind gazes fixed on Madrid’s sky. They are not merely an sculptural inventory of dynastic power; they are mute sentinels of a court that no longer exists, stone witnesses that bear the passage of seasons and the bustle of passersby with the cold, majestic, unshakable patience of granite. - Image dimensions (unframed): 73 x 54 cm / 82 x 61 cm with exclusive custom frame. In Montbaron Gallery, we are pleased to offer our clients an exclusive selection of artworks, all of them unique, original and unrepeatable. Each piece in our gallery is the result of deep dedication, a creative vision and masterful technique, characteristics that guarantee its authenticity. The works we sell are not industrial reproductions; they are pieces created individually by recognized artists, each with its own story and essence. Originality is the foundation of our commitment to excellence, and therefore every painting or sculpture that is part of our collection is carefully selected to ensure its uniqueness. Acquiring a work from Montbaron Gallery means owning an irrepeatable piece, an investment in creativity and talent that, over time, will preserve its artistic and emotional value. We are proud to offer works that not only beautify spaces but also connect our clients with the richness of human expression through the most authentic art. Thus, we guarantee that every work that leaves our gallery is a one-of-a-kind piece in the world, with no replicas, and a testament to the innovation and passion of the artists we work with. Certain lots, due to their age and value, require an export permit granted by the Ministry of Culture. Although this is an administrative procedure, it is indispensable to ensure the authenticity of the work and its free circulation internationally. Montbaron Gallery is committed to offering its clients original, unique and unrepeatable works of art, guaranteeing the authenticity and quality of every piece in our collection. To ensure transparency and trust in each acquisition, we offer a digital Certificate of Guarantee, signed by a certified art historian. This certificate attests that the purchased work has been authenticated by our specialists, who verify authorship, origin and condition. The Certificate of Guarantee includes full details about the piece, such as author, date of creation, technique used, and dimensions. The digital Certificate of Guarantee will be issued upon the client’s request, providing an official reference for the purchased piece. This document will be sent in digital format and will be signed by an art historian from our gallery, ensuring its validity and backing. We are committed to our clients’ satisfaction and trust, so any doubt about the authenticity or condition of the work will be addressed professionally and diligently. To request your Certificate of Guarantee, please contact us through our usual channels. To this end, we work with a network of professionals specialized in art transport, who guarantee maximum care throughout the entire process. It is important to note that the shipping cost prices shown in the listing are indicative and subject to change depending on various circumstances, including variations in transportation market rates, delivery location changes, the size and weight of the work, and possible extraordinary circumstances such as fuel cost fluctuations or adjustments to customs and import tariffs. The final shipping cost will be calculated precisely based on these factors, and the client will always be informed beforehand before shipping proceeds. Our aim is to offer the best possible service, adapting to each client’s needs and ensuring the artwork arrives quickly and safely, with no surprises. The frame shown in the previous images has been added to the piece by a third party or by the seller, and is not an integral part of the object. This frame is provided at no additional cost so that, when the work arrives at your home, it can be exhibited immediately on your wall. Accordingly, no frame-related damages that do not affect the integrity of the artwork will be accepted as valid grounds to open a claim or request a cancellation.
