Splendid Honey Calcite in Crystals on Matrix

From our selection of collectible minerals, we offer a splendid group of Calcite crystals from the San Giovanni Mine, Bindua, Iglesias, Sardinia. Moreover, it features numerous Calcite crystals with the characteristic cream-honey color, arranged in dense aggregates on matrix with good transparency and vitreous luster, in addition to the fluorescence reported by the seller—elements that enhance its aesthetic value and mineralogical importance. The specimen stands out for the quality of crystallization and for the overall aesthetic balance, with characteristics that enhance its natural structure and visual impact. Calcite is the most widespread calcium carbonate (CaCO3) in nature and can crystallize in hundreds of different forms, from rhombohedral to scalenohedral as in this specimen. The San Giovanni Mine, in the Iglesias mining district, is one of Sardinia’s historic sites for lead and zinc extraction, whose karst cavities have favored the growth of splendid secondary crystals of calcite, smithsonite, and fluorite. The cream-honey color of these crystals is due to traces of impurities absorbed during crystal growth. This is an ideal specimen for mineral collections, display, and for those who appreciate the natural beauty of minerals, also in the context of crystal therapy and lithotherapy, according to the properties traditionally associated with the mineral species. All the minerals are 100% natural and untreated, with rare exceptions always noted in the description. Photographs are taken with professional lighting to best showcase colors and details; however, slight variations in shade may occur depending on the device or ambient light.
