The findings of this paper transformed the understanding of cognition and consciousness and contributed to Roger Wolcott Sperry's Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1981, as he was one of the contributors of this paper. Another work appearing in this volume is Martin Gellert, Marie N. Lipsett, and David R. Davies's "Helix Formation by Guanylic Acid", an early development of structural molecular biology.
