Spring Races of 1871 - Lot 93

Spring Races of 1871 [LAILLOT]. — SPRING RACES OF 1871. Paris, Lith. Laillot, [1871]. A large and amusing satirical composition depicting European political figures as competitors in a fantastical race. Figures on horseback, on grotesque mounts, or on velocipedes vie for victory in an improbable contest. The sheet bears several numbers referring to a handwritten caption printed at the bottom and combines references to current political events with equestrian terminology. Colored lithograph. A few marks and minor marginal soiling; good condition.
