Rare and refined Italian wooden olive-wood tabletop lectern, characterized by rich inlay decoration and a specially shaped top crest. The work is decorated with elaborate geometric, floral, and ornamental motifs, realized by combining different wood species and with refined borders featuring a geometric motif that recall traditional Sorrento wood inlay. The upper part is embellished with an important shaped crest, at the center of which is inserted a fixed oval medallion, decorated with the depiction of a Eucharistic chalice surmounted by the monogram IHS, inserted within a floral composition. At the sides of the medallion are depicted ornamental vases with flowers, plant elements and birds according to a decorative taste typical of Italian production of travel and furnishing objects of the Sorrentine tradition. The structure presents a particular inclinable opening and a support system that allows adjusting the reading surface to four different heights. For construction characteristics, use of olive wood, type of inlays, the object is attributable to the Sorrentina inlay tradition, with an approximate dating between the late 19th and early 20th century. Conditions The lectern is overall in good condition, considering its age and artisanal nature of the piece. They include: * a slight cracking in the inlaid part; * small localized losses of some inlay elements; * the oval medallion with chalice is fixed; * the front plane/base where the book rests has been reproduced; * the olive wood structure is in excellent general condition; * the original finish is preserved in good condition, with normal signs of time and use; * one of the four feet is not original. All the defects and peculiarities indicated above are visible in the photographs and must be considered part of the history and preservation of the object. Dimensions: width 31 x height 36 cm
