Susse Frères bronsgieterij - Georges Coste - Sculpture

Beautiful patinated bronze Art Deco sculpture designed by the French sculptor Georges Guiraud Coste (active circa 1930). The figure depicts a seated young naked woman who looks the viewer straight in the eye. Next to her lies a dog in total surrender, her hand resting on the warm fur of the dog. Its head slightly raised toward her. Both vulnerable yet faithful to each other and connected in love between human and animal. Coste's work usually portrays humans and animals together in a stylized Art Deco style. The piece is signed and bears the Susse Frères casting mark. In itself, a sign of pure quality. The casting technique is the lost-wax method; cire perdue in French. It is a large and heavy sculpture: 67 cm long and weighing more than 11 kilograms. In good condition, no defects. Will be sent by registered mail. #roaringtwenties
