Swan - Flower pot - Porcelain - Large showy cachepot

Upon request comes a regal, imposing Prunk-Übertopf (cachepot) from Thuringia, crafted in the second half of the 19th century (Historism / Gründerzeit, approx. 1860–1890). The splendid vessel captivates with its bright blue ground color (in the style of the classic Bleu de Sèvres) and its stately, bulbous form with a maximum diameter of 31 cm. • Decoration & painting: On the two large front sides there are opulent, white-ground reserve cartouches with wavy gold tracery. The cartouches display two different, masterfully executed floral arrangements (a magnificent bouquet of asters and dahlias as well as a bouquet with anemones, poppy, and forget-me-nots). This is demonstrably fine, polychrome hand painting. The brushwork and the enamel relief are clearly visible under magnification; there is no transfer decoration. • Three-dimensional decoration: On the sides there are two fully three-dimensionally formed, regal lion heads (lion mascarons) as handles, whose manes and contours are exquisitely accented with gold. The upper rim is also adorned with a fine gold band. • Base mark: On the unglazed underside sits the sharply impressed blind stamp "17 TR 1". The letter combination stands for the renowned Thuringian manufactory Schönau, Swaine & Co. (Hüttensteinach); the numerals indicate the model and serial size. Technical data / dimensions • Origin: Thuringia, Germany (Schönau, Swaine & Co.) • Era: Historismus / Late 19th century (approx. 1870/1880) • Maximum belly diameter: approx. 31 cm • Overall width (including lion heads): approx. 31 cm • Opening diameter (top): approx. 21 cm • Total height: approx. 21.5 cm • Material: Porcelain, polychrome hand-painted, gold-handled Condition Excellent, age-appropriate display condition. No cracks, no chips (chips) at the edges or on the fragile lion heads. The white inner glaze is clean and stain-free. The gold tracery is wonderfully preserved and shows only minimal, absolutely age-appropriate wear at the upper rim. (Please note the detailed photos with a measuring tape).
