Lustrous and with a fine, golden toning, this large medal celebrates the important Swedish victory at Breitenfeld near Leipzig. Laden with symbolism, the obverse shows the personifications of Justice, Bravery, and Piety supporting a crowned column with a cityscape of Leipzig in the background. On the reverse, a scene from the battle is seen with a myriad of details, the spires of Leipzig also in the background and an angel wielding a flaming sword hovering over the battlefield.
