Across the surface, handcrafted paper flowers and delicate hand-rolled paper elements emerge organically, creating a sculptural relief that feels both light and tactile. The interplay between the gold tones gives the piece a calm yet expressive presence. Each flower and rolled element is carefully resin-coated, giving the artwork durability and a refined finish. Subtle shimmering accents and fine details interact with the light, allowing the surface to shift in character with every movement and reflection. A lacquer finish further amplifies the depth, softness, and elegance of the piece. With a height of approximately 50 cm and width of 40 cm, ''Sakura Blossom Oval Gold' is meticulously handcrafted using hand-rolled paper and handmade paper flowers. The layered textures and nuanced golden tones create a dynamic yet soothing visual experience. A graduate of Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts (2014), Swen Van der Sangen combines his background in luxury fashion and design with fine art craftsmanship. His work is characterised by precision, refined material use, and an emotional sensitivity to light, texture, and form. 'Sakura Blossom Oval Gold' is more than an artwork.
