Magnificent Napoleon III period table lamp base (late 19th century), finely carved in solid bronze. The piece features a draped cherub (putto/angel) elegantly holding a stylized cornucopia that serves as a torch. The work rests on a substantial square plinth with Rococo / Louis XVI foliate decor, adorned with acanthus leaf motifs. Major authenticity features: • Noble material: Cast in very heavy solid bronze, of high density. • Craft technique: Sand casting typical of the 19th century. The raw underside of the base reveals irregular contours • Original design: The base era-wise incorporates the side cable pass-through hole intended to let the wire slide without unbalancing the lamp.
