All auctions / Lighting / Table lamp - Metal, Brass - Sputnik lamp
Splendid and elegant vintage desk lamp dating from the 1950s, a perfect example of Italian Mid-Century Modern design (mid-century modern). Historically identified also as the “television lamp,” it stands out for its clean, essential geometric lines. The lamp features a conical aluminum/metal reflector lacquered in an indefinable green color that rests on a refined brass tripod chassis, complete with the characteristic tapered feet typical of Italian manufacturing of the era (Arredoluce / Stilnovo style). A Sputnik desk lamp designed and produced in Italy in the Fifties. The lamp is functional, the brass has its original patina, the aluminum cone is smooth and free of dings but shows a stretch of a few centimeters where paint has been removed (as in the photo). This lamp represents an iconic era in design history and continues to be a symbol of refinement and innovation in the world of furnishings. Its graceful, space-age form and warm brass finish make it a standout piece capable of elevating the aesthetics of any room. It is built mainly with high-quality brass and green-painted aluminum from the 1950s. The brass finish not only adds a touch of opulence but also provides a warm and inviting light to the room when lit. It integrates perfectly into a wide range of interior styles, from mid-century modern to contemporary, making it a coveted piece among vintage and modern enthusiasts. It represents an iconic era in design history and continues to be a symbol of refinement and innovation in the world of furnishings. Electrical socket and cord, as with the entire electrical system they are original and therefore caution is advised in use and better after consulting an electrician’s opinion.
