Table - Wood

19TH-CENTURY CIRCULAR CENTRE TABLE WITH DRAWER AND INLAY DESCRIPTION IN ENGLISH Elegant and refined 19th-century circular centre table, made of wood and characterised by rich decorative inlay, a beautifully turned central pedestal and four elegantly shaped curved legs. This is a highly decorative piece of furniture, representative of the taste of European cabinetmaking during the second half of the 19th century, when furniture was designed to combine functionality, refined decoration and carefully executed craftsmanship. The tabletop The table features an important circular tabletop measuring 55 cm in diameter, richly decorated with geometric inlay made by combining different shades, grains and tones of wood. At the centre of the tabletop is an elegant circular medallion decorated with a stylised floral motif, carefully incorporated into the wooden surface. Surrounding the central medallion is a large field displaying the beautiful natural grain of the wood, enclosed by several concentric decorative borders. The inner decorative band consists of numerous wooden elements arranged radially, creating an attractive geometric effect. The outer border features further contrasts between darker and reddish-toned woods, giving the tabletop a particularly rich and sophisticated appearance. The decoration is enhanced by the shaped and rounded outer edge, carefully finished and harmoniously connected with the frieze below. The drawer One of the most interesting features of the piece is the pull-out side drawer, incorporated into the frieze beneath the tabletop. The drawer is entirely wooden and follows the same decorative language as the rest of the table. It is fitted with a small metal knob/pull. The drawer adds a practical element to the furniture and can be used for storing small objects, writing accessories, documents or personal items. The structure The tabletop is supported by an elegant centrally turned wooden pedestal, featuring several moulded sections and a beautifully rounded central element. The pedestal gradually expands towards the lower section and terminates in a base with four shaped and curved legs. The legs extend gracefully outwards and feature flowing, curved profiles, giving the table a particularly elegant and dynamic appearance. The combination of the circular inlaid tabletop, turned central pedestal and four curved legs creates a highly decorative piece with a strong 19th-century character. Style and period Period: 19th century, approximately the second half. Style: Eclectic / Historicist, with Neo-Renaissance influences. Type: Centre table / occasional table / games or writing table with drawer. Material: Wood with various veneers and decorative inlays. Decoration: Geometric inlay with central floral medallion. The elaborate tabletop decoration, contrasting wood tones and carefully shaped pedestal and legs are characteristic of the refined decorative taste of European furniture from the second half of the 19th century. Condition The table is presented in good vintage/antique condition considering its age and previous use. There are normal signs of age, including minor abrasions, superficial scratches, natural colour variations, slight surface imperfections and traces of wear to the finish. These characteristics are consistent with the age of the piece and contribute to its authentic antique appearance. The tabletop retains a beautiful aged patina, with natural variations in colour and sheen that enhance the wood grain and decorative inlay. The drawer is present and functional, with its metal pull. The overall structure is stable. Buyers are advised to carefully examine all photographs, which form an integral part of the description and show the decorative details and current condition of the piece. Measurements * Height: 67 cm * Tabletop diameter: 55 cm Suggested use and interior Thanks to its compact dimensions and elegant appearance, this table can be used in a variety of interiors. It would be suitable as a centre table, side table, reading table, games table, small writing table or decorative occasional table. It would complement a classical living room, library, study, reading room, elegant entrance hall or vintage and antique-style interior. It can also be successfully incorporated into a contemporary setting, where the contrast between modern furniture and the craftsmanship of an authentic 19th-century piece can create a sophisticated decorative effect. A particularly attractive piece for collectors, antique dealers, interior designers and enthusiasts of historic furniture and European cabinetmaking.
