Table - Wood - Center Table Monopod

Central Pedestal Table in Walnut, Carved — Rococo/Victorian Style — 19th Century Main Description For sale, a refined antique central pedestal table, a piece of furniture of great elegance dating probably to the second half of the 19th century. This table embodies the opulent and meticulous taste of Rococo Revival or High Victorian periods. Top: The table features an oval top, made with high-quality walnut veneer. The grain (walnut figure) is vivid, intricate and creates a beautiful natural "flame" pattern that catches the light, as visible in close-up details. The edge of the top is finished with an owl-beak molding, rounded and smooth to the touch, which adds depth and definition to the silhouette. The surface finish is a spirit polish (French polish) that enhances the warmth and richness of the wood. Base: The top rests on a sturdy and dramatic central pedestal in solid wood, finely carved. The main shaft is carved with a baluster-like (fluted) motif, tapering gracefully. At the base, the pedestal fans out into four cabriole legs (S-shaped) beautifully shaped. Each leg is adorned with foliate carvings and Rococo scrolls on the upper portion ("knee") and ends with a scroll foot carved with precision. The curved legs not only offer stability but give the table a sense of movement and grace. Technical Details: The construction is solid and traditional. Under the top, a cross-braced dark wood supporting structure is visible, fixed with antique screws, securing the top to the pedestal (as shown in the close-up photo). This table is conceived as a central piece, perfect for a foyer, a library, or as an elegant breakfast table. Conditions: The table is presented in excellent antique condition. It is structurally solid and stable. The top finish is glossy and well preserved; it shows only minimal signs of wear, micro-scratches and very slight imperfections consistent with age and proper use (visible only in oblique lighting). There are no evident cracks, major restorations, or missing parts in the carvings. The legs and feet are intact. Please examine carefully the close-up photos for an accurate assessment of surface conditions.
