This magnificent vintage Sosaku Kokeshi wooden doll is a remarkable work by the renowned Japanese artist Sato Suigai, born in 1920. This modern creative model stands out with its elegant slim silhouette and its long cylindrical carved wooden body. The piece is entirely hand-decorated with a delicate pattern of red bamboo that extends the full height, a traditional symbol of strength and purity in Japan. The face, carved with great finesse, displays a serene and timeless expression, topped by a stylized bun characteristic of the artisan's meticulous craftsmanship. This is an authentic and refined collectible, ideal for art and craftsmanship enthusiasts and for fans of Japanese interior design. Dimensions: H 36 x D 5.5 cm Kokeshi were created by kiji-shi (wood artisans) in the northern part of Honshu (the largest island of Japan), in the Tohoku region, at the end of the Edo period. At the start of their creation, these dolls representing little girls were small toys for children, before being sold as souvenirs to tourists visiting the hot springs. They are now genuine collectible pieces. Please refer to the photos for more details. Shipped with protection and tracking.
